Switched On... and On... and On...
Did any of you ever wonder what Moog had been up to since the fabulous, infamous Moog synthesiser was used to record Switched-On Bach? They haven't rested on their laurels, that's for sure. Moog now produces a wide variety of electronic-music-related... stuff... including distortion pedals, keyboard equipment, theremins (also a Method For Theremin book), and even gig bags. They promoted their series of Moogerfooger (presumably pronounced 'mogerfoger' since according both to my Dad and their website Moog rhymes with vogue) effects boxes with the official Moogerfooger Challenge (see picture). If you bought a Moogerfooger and sent it back, you got a free shirt. If you wanted to keep your Moogerfooger but still acquire an insulting T-shirt, it was around $5. If you just wanted the shirt, it was $17 plus postage. What a shame that it was only open to US residents, and that the promotion seems to have ended.
Oh, no! Mr Moog himself apparently passed away last August. How could I miss that?
